Reasons for Stopping TTC
Missed miscarriage and D&C procedure
During my journey of trying to conceive, I sadly experienced a missed miscarriage. It was a heartbreaking and emotionally challenging time for me and my family. At about eight weeks, I discovered that I had lost the pregnancy, but my body did not spontaneously complete the miscarriage. As a result, I had to undergo a D&C procedure. This medical intervention allowed my body to heal physically, but the emotional toll was immense. It took my body a long time to recover, both physically and mentally. The whole process lasted for about two and a half to three months, and it was an experience I never want to go through again.
Unsuccessful attempts at getting pregnant
After the miscarriage and the recovery period, my husband and I decided to continue trying to conceive. Unfortunately, month after month, we did not experience any success. We tried for four consecutive cycles, and we were about to embark on our fifth when we reached a point of emotional exhaustion. Seeing negative pregnancy tests month after month became emotionally draining, and we realized that we needed to take a step back and reevaluate our path forward. While I know that our journey was relatively short compared to others, it still took a toll on us.
Satisfaction with two daughters
After much discussion, contemplation, and heart-to-heart conversations, my husband and I made the decision to stop trying to conceive. We realized that we are content and fulfilled with our two beautiful daughters. While we had hoped to expand our family, the experiences we went through made us reflect on our true desires and priorities. Our girls bring immense joy and love into our lives, and we are grateful for the family we have. Accepting this decision brought a sense of peace and contentment into our hearts.
Plans for the Future
Moving back to the coast
One of the decisions we made along the way was to eventually move back to the coast. Both my husband and I grew up in coastal areas, and we miss living near the ocean. While we haven’t determined the exact location yet, we know that Colorado is not our forever home. Being water people, we yearn for the opportunity to surf and experience the beach as part of our everyday lifestyle. Moving with a smaller family is logistically easier, and we believe that it would be the best time for us to make this transition.
Pursuing a Montessori certification
Aside from our plans to move, I have also made career plans in the Montessori field. My initial intention after my first daughter was born was to return to work as a teacher. However, circumstances led me down a different path, and YouTube became my full-time job alongside my other pursuits like courses and writing a book. Now, with a wealth of knowledge and passion for Montessori, I am excited to pursue a Montessori certification. This will allow me to deepen my understanding of the philosophy and methodology and open doors to new opportunities in the field.
Starting a Montessori playgroup
With my Montessori certification, I aspire to create my own Montessori playgroup. Providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children has always been a goal of mine. I want to create a space where children can learn and grow through the Montessori approach, fostering independence, curiosity, and a love for learning. Building this playgroup will not only be fulfilling for me personally but also provide a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.
Focusing on self-care
In the midst of all these plans and aspirations, I have also realized the importance of focusing on self-care. Prioritizing my own mental, emotional, and physical well-being is essential for me to continue to thrive as a mother, wife, and individual. This includes making time for hobbies, engaging in activities that bring me joy, and seeking moments of rest and relaxation. By taking care of myself, I can show up as my best self for my family and pursue my goals with enthusiasm and fulfillment.
